The Power of Breath: An Introduction to Alternate Nostril Breathing

In today's fast-paced world, stress and anxiety have become common challenges for many. However, there is a simple yet powerful technique that can help you manage these issues - Alternate Nostril Breathing.

What is Alternate Nostril Breathing?

Alternate Nostril Breathing, also known as Nadi Shodhana in Sanskrit, is a yogic breathing practice that involves breathing through one nostril at a time. This technique is believed to balance the two hemispheres of the brain, calm the mind, and reduce stress and anxiety.

How to Practice Alternate Nostril Breathing:

  1. Find a comfortable seated position with your spine straight.
  2. Place your left hand on your left knee with the palm facing up.
  3. Bring your right hand to your face. Use your thumb to close your right nostril and your ring finger or pinky to close your left nostril.
  4. Start by closing your right nostril with your thumb and inhale through your left nostril for a count of 4.
  5. Close your left nostril with your ring finger or pinky, release your right nostril, and exhale through your right nostril for a count of 4.
  6. Inhale through your right nostril for a count of 4, then close the right nostril, release the left, and exhale through the left nostril for a count of 4.
  7. This completes one round. Repeat for 5-10 rounds.

The Benefits of Alternate Nostril Breathing:
